Gallery anne barrault is pleased to present the new solo exhibition of Dominique Figarella for its reopening.
This exhibition is entitled « CU ». These two letters come the sentence « Ask me if I C like U » on one of the
works, a sentence which takes us straight to the point of the artist’s new proposal for the gallery.

Born in 1966, he lives and works in Paris and Montpellier.
With Dominique Figarella, a painting belongs to a device of which the viewer constitutes another most important part. If the painting, as an object, conveys the artist’s emotion and, at the same time, the craftsman’s freedom, what makes sense is definitely the interaction between this object, in a given place, and the spectator’s attention. Dominique Figarella’s work is like a drama, necessarily incomplete: the choice of the staging and the reception of the audience give it its actual dimension.
Since he graduated from Villa Arson, his paintings have been shown regularly in France, Austria, the USA, Switzerland and Spain. In 2003, Daniel Azoulay gallery present a solo show of Dominique Figarella. In 2004,he had a solo show at Thaddaeus Ropac gallery in Salzbourg and in 2008 at La Station in Nice. The same year, he took part in several collective exhibitions: Rot, Red, Rouge at the Kunstraseum, a residence gallery in Salzburg, and + de réalité at the Hangar à Bananes, Nantes. In 2009, he had a solo show at the Museum of Sérignan, and one at the Carré Sainte Anne in Montpellier, in February 2010, another one at Le Life, Saint-Nazaire. In the years 2010-2014 he presented Soapéra, a work done in collaboration with Mathilde Monnier, in Paris Centre Pompidou, Montpellier, Frankfurt and Utrecht. In 2011 he took part in collective exhibitions:
Incidents maîtrisés at the Espace d’Art Concret, Mouans-Sartoux, La peinture autrement at the Chagall Museum, Nice and during Printemps de Septembre at Le lieu commun (Toulouse) with Sarah Tritz. In 2013: Entrée Libre mais non obligatoire at Villa Arson, Nice, L´exception culturelle in the Contemporary Art Center of Meymac.
