Re-Enactment is centred around objects fabricated by others, that the artist reproduces. Encountered by chance in different places, the chosen objects escape standardization.
They have been conceived according to a strange logic, different from the artist’s own logic. Through the process of reproduction, this foreign logic is understood and
appropriated. The re-created objects surpass practicality. They access new layers of meaning, and raise questions about the cultural aesthetic they are the results of, or not.
Re-Enactment generates a slow collection of unimportant, neglected objects, which quickly disappear otherwise. Their lives become longer.

welded iron, stainless steel and brass, 40×270 cm
A ladder is made of three different metals, incarnating the idea of an ascension.

key, earth, 15x15x7 cm
The key of the childhood house of the artist in Lebanon is stuck in a small pile of earth from the country where she currently resides.

childhood photograph, 24-carat gold leaf, various dimensions
A photograph from the artist’s childhood is covered over in gold leaf. The past memory is no longer accessible and instead reflects the present.

printed map, mirror stainless steel track, 83x83cm.
A familiar trajectory, regularly undertook by the artist when she lived in Paris, is transposed onto the map of Lebanon. A number of obstacles prevent the Parisian path to be crossed : it is interrupted by a river, buildings, or the absence of streets. By coincidence, the end point on the new map is located very close to the place where the artist lived as a child.

print, water, 29,7 x 42 cm
A photograph of the sky and the sea lays in a puddle of water. The water from the sea falls down from the photograph to the floor. The water on
the floor goes up on the photograph and slowly degrades it. Everyday, the water is renewed.

installation size : 50cm
A vase is broken into smaller and smaller fragments, until some of its fragments are reduced to powder.

163 x 278cm / 2 laser-jet photographs divided in bands and laminated on both sides of the blades of a Venetian blind
When the gallery opens, the blinds are shifted : the day sky is seen from the inside and the night sky from the outside. When the gallery closes, the blinds are shifted again and the night falls inside of the gallery. During the opening hours, it is the day only inside of the gallery and everywhere outside is dark. During the closing hours, the works in the gallery are put to sleep, and the exhibition moves to the outside. Window Shade establishes a relationship between the individual and natural phenomena; In off-beat with the natural cycles, a double reality is created: the day rises twice in the city, and the night falls twice.

hand made iron and stainless steel chain, 300 x 5 x 1 cm
A chain is composed of alternated stainless steel and iron links. It attaches together two materials with opposite qualities. The stainless steel links will never rust, the iron links will rust. With time, the chain will dissolve.

natural white rose, artificial white rose, vase, 15x30cm / A natural rose and its plastic imitation cohabitate in the same vase. As the days pass by, the difference between them becomes an evidence.
biography
Stéphanie Saadé is a graduate from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts of Paris and from the China Academy of Arts of Hangzhou.
Stéphanie Saadé ‘s work suggests and plays on the poetic and the metaphor. She supplies us with clues, signs, and sometimes silent leads with no images, which communicate reciprocally like the words of a single sentence. It is up to the viewer to decipher, like an archeologist in front of traces, fossils, and fragments. The enigma has often to do with the artist’s personal history.
She has recently had an exhibition in Parc Saint-Léger, Centre d’art contemporain, Pougues-les-Eaux, Maison Salvan, Labège, and at the Van Loon Museum in Amsterdam. He work was also presented in group exhibitions in Punta della Dogana, Venise / MOCA Toronto / Les Abattoirs, Toulouse / La Criée, Renne / Sharjah Biennale 13 / MAXXI, Rome / MuHKA, Anvers / Kunsthaus Pasquart, Bienne / National Gallery of Iceland, Reykjavík / Oslo Kunstforening, Oslo / Ystad Konstmuseum, Ystad / Hessel Museum of Art, CCS Bard, New York / Marres, Maastricht / La Traverse, Centre d’Art Contemporain d’Alfortville / Museum Schloss Moyland, Bedburg-Hau / Mosaic Rooms, Londres / Casa Árabe, Madrid / Casa Árabe, Cordoue / La Conservera, Centro de Arte Contemporaneo, Murcie / Home Works 7, Beyrouth / Parc Saint Léger hors les murs, Nevers / Van Eyck, Maastricht / Le 59e Salon de Montrouge / Beirut Art Center, Beyrouth / Beirut Exhibition Center, Beyrouth /A.M.
